Treiman came from the midwest to Southern California in the 40's after studying at Iowa University and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She taught for years at UCLA. Her love of the old masters and Eakins is always evident in her figure landscapes that are infused with surrealist undertones. It seems that you just can't take the Chicago influence out of an artist once they have succumbed to it's siren song.

Pulling prints in a car port studio in La Jolla. Had to work only in the morning when the wind did not blow. It is amazing what conditions someone will work in to accomplish the task at hand. A belated apology to my ex-neighbors for the loud and angry bellows from my side of the fence from time to time.
