The nice thing about FB is that you find friends and those friends are artists that do interesting work. Here is one of them. Glad we found each other to share ideas and images with.

Sarah Walker
Sarah Walker Self Assembly 2010 acrylic on panel 26" x 28"

Walker's paintings remind me of solarized photos from the 60's. Remember the photos of the Beatles from one of their albums? Forms and imagery melt into each other as she layers paint into geometric patterns.

Finley's latest paintings are a technical tour de force. His exhibition of large and smaller paintings at Susanne Vielmetter in Culver City was a real eye opener for me. The Canadian artist who now lives and works in Germany has developed a beautiful hy-bred of geometric abstraction meets op. He uses tape and squeegee to great advantage with various tints of gel medium and opaque pigment passages.
The exhibition is up until Aug. 23 in Vielmetter's Culver City Project Space on Washington.

Heidi Pollard

I like Heidi Pollard's approach to painting. She has a directness that is apparent and an inventiveness with color and form that pique my imagination as I wander through her world of images.

Julie Alexander
Julie Alexander Mio 2013 oil on canvas 10" x 12"
juliealexanderart.com
Alexander is a painter from the northwest. She shares a sensibility with many painters today in that she is continually searching for a unique and authentic voice as she participates in the current dialogue about painting. What I enjoy about her work is her risk taking. She does not fear the abyss but rather relishes the unknown as she rambles along her creative path.

Bill Jensen
Bill Jensen With Color XXll 2009 egg tempera and oil tempera on paper 22" x 15"

Jensen is one of the most inventive painters I have come across. He mixes his own paints from scratch and his compositions and color combinations are always a wonderful surprise.
He is one of the finest abstract painters working today.
